Pioneer's Cafe - Methven

We stopped in here for coffee and something sweet in late March 2017. The decor was appealing and reflected the name of Pioneer's. Harriet found the old farming implements interesting and was pleased to see a special play area for children. The coffee was served hot and tasted great, as did the chocolate afghan. Our only negative comment was that the bill was $9 for the two items which we thought was a little pricey!

The Wholemeal Cafe - Takaka

We visited this coffee shop in March 2017 and were impressed by the colourful decor and eclectic range of furnishings. It turned out that the premises used to be the old Takaka Theatre. The service was good and the coffee and brownie delicious - although Harriet had most of that! The dining area was spacious with a high roof and we weren't squeezed up next to other customers. We would rate this cafe as follows:
